Upper Catcher for Monorail Sliding Gates: Why You Need It and How to Install It

Monorail sliding gates are a reliable choice, but due to their large surface area, they are highly sensitive to wind loads. To prevent rattling, deformation, and ensure a long lifespan, the upper catcher plays a vital role.

Key Function: The catcher secures the upper edge of the gate in the closed position, turning the moving leaf into a rigid, monolithic structure that resists external forces.

4 Reasons to Install an Upper Catcher

1. Stabilization

Protects against wind gusts and prevents rollers from jumping the track.

2. Frame Integrity

Prevents gradual bending or warping of the metal frame over time.

3. Automation Life

Reduces vibration stress on the motor gearbox and gear rack.

4. Noise Reduction

Eliminates the annoying sound of metal hitting posts during windy weather.

Catcher Types: From Standard to "Pro"

We offer two main types of professional hardware:

  • Classic U-Bracket: Made of galvanized steel. A budget-friendly and heavy-duty option.
  • Adjustable Roller Catcher: Allows you to set the exact width of your frame. Rubber rollers ensure silent operation and protect the paint.

Installation Secrets: Anti-Vandal Protection

Installing anti-vandal gate catcher

How to Protect Your Gate from Crowbars?

Standard catchers work well, but for maximum security against intruders, we recommend:

1. Anti-Lift Protection: Use a catcher with a "top plate" (bridge). This prevents burglars from using a crowbar to lift the gate off its track.

2. Bottom Catcher: Adding a bottom catcher (in addition to the top one) locks the gate firmly in place horizontally, creating an anti-vandal barrier.

Step-by-Step DIY Installation

For a quick installation without unnecessary welding, use our special mounting bracket:

  1. Preparation: Fix the mounting bracket to the post (using bolts or welding). The length can be trimmed to fit.
  2. Mounting: Bolt the catcher to the bracket. This allows for fine-tuning during and after installation.
  3. Clearance: Adjust the width so there is a 3-5 mm gap between the gate frame and the catcher walls for smooth entry.

Pro Tip: Always leave a small gap! Soil shifts and temperature changes can cause posts to move slightly. Without a gap, the gate may jam.
