Bottom Stopper (Limiter) for Monorail Gates: Reliable Closing
Many believe that the automation system should stop the gate on its own. This is a mistake! Without a physical bottom stopper, the entire inertia of a heavy gate leaf falls on the drive gearbox or the catchers. Installing a limiter is a minor investment that saves expensive equipment from failure.
Main Task: The stopper absorbs the impact during closing and opening, clearly fixing the gate at the end point and preventing the rollers from "derailing" the monorail.
Why Do You Need a Ground-Mounted Limiter?
Relieves impact load from the gear rack and motor pinion.
The gate won't leave the rail even with a strong manual push or wind gust.
The leaf always stops perfectly aligned with the catcher.
The rubber bumper softens contact, preserving paint and metal.
DIY Installation: A "Human-Friendly" Guide
You can install the stopper yourself in 20 minutes. You will need a drill (or hammer drill) and two anchors (or welding, if attaching to a metal base).
- Marking (Point A): Close the gate completely. Place the stopper against the monorail so the rubber damper rests against the gate's bottom profile. Mark the holes.
- Drilling: Move the gate aside. Drill holes in the concrete (usually for a 10-12 mm anchor). If you have tiles, use a special drill bit to avoid cracking them.
- Fixing: Clean the holes of dust, insert the anchors, and tighten the nuts firmly. The stopper must be rock solid.
- Testing: Slowly close the gate. The leaf should softly touch the rubber exactly when the automation's limit switch triggers.
Pro Tip: Be sure to install a stopper in the "Open" position (Point B) as well. This prevents the gate from over-traveling out of the guide rollers if someone opens it too forcefully.
