Bottom Stop for Hanging Gates: Installing a Travel Limiter Yourself
Imagine the situation: you open the gates, the carriages slide smoothly along the track, but due to a strong push or a gust of wind, the gate leaf moves too far and... flies out of the guide rail. To avoid a dangerous fall of the heavy structure, there is a simple and brilliant solution — a ground-mounted travel limiter.
The bottom stop (buffer) is not just an accessory, but a key safety element. It absorbs the impact load in the extreme position, protecting the roller carriages from breakage and you from accidents.
Where is Stop №6 Installed?
A3 — gate frame position when fully open | №5 — top stop | №6 — bottom stop
According to the diagram, the installation follows this logic:
- [1] Point A3: This is the extreme position of the gate when fully opened. This is where stop №6 is mounted to the ground.
- [2] Double Protection: For ideal fixation, we recommend combining the bottom stop №6 with the top stop №5 (which is inserted inside the guide rail).
- ✔ This top-and-bottom combination firmly secures the gate leaf, eliminating any play or wobble.
⚙ Tools for DIY Installation
For drilling holes in concrete
Diameter 10-12 mm
For tightening bolts
For precise A3 marking
Simple Installation Algorithm (4 Steps)
Fully open the gates to the desired stopping point.
Place stop №6 against the frame and mark the hole positions on the concrete.
Drill the holes, insert anchor bolts, and tighten the stop firmly to the base.
Test: the gates should hit the stop's damper softly and squarely without tilting.
